I’ve been playing the Great Highland Pipe, or also more commonly known as the Scottish Bagpipes, for over 22 years. I started learning to play when I was a freshman in high school. At the time I was in the Regiment playing the saxophone, and I felt it was time to try something new. Low and behold there was a bagpipe band at my high school that was a part of the marching band.I’m currently playing with the Kevin R. Blandford Memorial Pipe Band (http://www.blandfordbands.org), which was named after the passing of my mentor and friend Kevin Blandford. His work and passion of the bagpipes and classic holiday music inspired him to record the Pipes of Christmas album: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-pipes-of-christmas/id777724888
This led to the collaboration of the Pipes of Christmas Concert series in New York and has become an annual holiday tradition for the last 15 years. I’ve performed in this concert at least eight times and twice led the entire production as the Pipe Major. http://www.pipesofchristmas.com
This year I started a Facebook fan page that is mostly a blog of my performances and showcases some of the work I’ve been doing. This summer I performed at the House of Blues with the Brick Top Blaggers (http://www.youtube.com/user/bricktopblaggers) and played on the NBC News out in Palm Springs. In past years I’ve even competed at the World Pipe Band Championships held in Glasgow, Scotland four times with my band.
