My name is Sara Miles and I am a 24-year-old college student. I just recently wrote this poem for an assignment in my English class at Mira Costa College, and it turned out so well that I decided to submit it to TreeHouse. This poem was extremely difficult to create, finish, and present because it is the manifestation of the abuse I endured as a little girl, and my own symbolic representation of the horror that occurred that day. This poem is not just a piece of work or a display of talent, it is the battle I have endured the last 16 years of my life, and the unfolding journey to recovery that is beginning to take place right now. I hope my poem speaks to every person who reads it, and gives hope to those who think there is none.
